Oversleeping affects everyone.........

Darn it, I overslept this morning. As a result, the girls and I were rushing around getting ready, getting some food that vaguely resembled breakfast, making sure everything was in their backpacks ( even though I did check the night before). But.............I forgot that my oldest had safety patrol and had to be there 20 minutes early. As we passed the crosswalk and I saw her patrol partner standing in the freezing cold all by herself, I felt horrible. My poor daughter, felt guilty as well and cried on the way to school, sure that she had lost a good friend and will be kicked off of safety patrol. Ah, the mind of a 10 year old. I hope her day gets better.

As I type this, I just realized..........I forgot to give them lunch money. Oy! I hate Mondays!!!!

Possibly the reason I overslept and suffer from CRS ( cant remember shit), is that Im over committed to too many things. This weekend is going to be rough. Friday, I have to help with 2 class parties, a slumber party that somehow is now going to be at my house instead of the one who's idea it was to begin with. Saturday, my girls have play rehearsal at 9:00 am, then Dh and I are going to a halloween dance that night ( that Id just as soon not go to now), then Sunday Im helping with a party at the lodge for the kids. We are doing a haunted house that will look like crap because there are only 3 people helping. I am one of them. I hope it turns out for the kids.

Wish me luck!

Ecclectic tastes

Wow! 3 posts in one week. ha ha. Im still trying to get into this blogging and since Stacy has been down with a miserable cold, Ive had some time at home to actually work on my blog and make some posts.

So, I was reading at my favorites and I realized how diverse they all are. I have sewing favorites, gardening favorites, food favorites, crafty favorites. I see other blogs that are dedicated to one or the other ( in general). But, that's just me. I always dabble in all sorts of things, but they usually all come together in one way. For instance, many of you know that I soap. I also adore herb gardening. I use my herbs in my soaps, but I also use them in cooking. Another passion. So where does the sewing come into play? Well, for gift sets with my soaps, I make cosmetic bags and lipbalm keyrings. So, the circle comes back to the soaping, which goes with the gardening, etc, etc. Its a bit like the song, "the kneebone's connected to the thigh bone".

On another note, I want to share my recipe for chicken and noodles. The easy way. Of course, homeade noodles are always best, these worked in a pinch.

2- 12 oz bags of Reames frozen noodles
1 chicken boullion cube
1 large chicken breast- boiled
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 stick of margarine
pinch of chicken seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
chopped parsely
dash of garlic powder

1. boil the noodles in a pot of water seasoned with chicken boullion cube.
2. boil chicken breast or roast if time
3. shred chicken
4. do not drain noodles, add stick of margarine and can of soup
5. stir until well mixed
6. season with chicken seasoning, salt, pepper and parsley, garlic.

Wish I had a picture, but the family finished off the whole pot!!!

Hermit crab racing-revisited

Ok, I admit it. Im a crab racing junkie! Yes, Terry the Crab Guy was back at our local Moose Lodge this weekend. Saturday night we went back. The lodge arranged it so that the kids could participate this time, too. My daughters eyes were bulging from the excitement. Gretchen, my 10 year old, and I both won a "heat". Or, should I say, Sparkle and Fluffy won their heats. LOL. However, we did not finish in the top 3. The Buckeye Crab races t-shirt with "come out and catch the crabs on the back" has eluded me yet again.

3 weekends ago, was my husbands, Brett, 20th year high school reunion and we booked the crab guy. Told you I was a junkie.

If you would like to read a cute article with pictures, I googled one and am posting the link.

From volunteering to teaching

When I started this blog, I didnt know what I was getting into. I enjoy reading other people's blogs, such as Alicia's http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com, or Farmgirl Fare ( www.foodiefarmgirl.blogspot.com). I get lost in their adventures and day to day lives. I now see how much time and energy they put into their postings.

When I started this blog, I was a stay-at-home mom who also ran a cottage soapmaking business. I had a lot more free time that I could have devoted to my blog. Things have changed a bit this school year. I was offered a job as a pre-school aide at our little co-op nursery school. I love volunteering at my girls' school, so I thought what the heck. I can still be home to take the girls to school, still be off work to pick them up from school, summer's off, the nursery school is on the district schedule, so any days the girls have off, I do too. Its great! The kids in the classes are hilarious. You never know what they are going to say or do.

As much as I love doing what Im doing, its zapping all of my time. My house is a wreck, Im always tired, Im grouchy- not like me at all. But, I want to keep doing it. I had decided this summer that I was going to "close up the store" and quit the business side of soapmaking for awhile. My heart just isnt in it. Oh, Ill still make it for our own personal use, but nothing much more than that. I guess my life is taking on a different direction.

I know its going to be a time management thing to get me on a schedule with a job, but by eliminating 1 of my full-time jobs ( I strongly feel being a mom IS a full time job), Ill be able to get back to the things I enjoyed that I just didnt have the time for with the business.

* If Im co-homeroom mom for both girls classes this year, I want to be at the parties, bake the cookies, make the treatbags.
* I want to make it to ALL of my youngest daugthers soccer games, not miss due to Farmer's Market.
* I want to re-plant all of the herbs that I let die due to neglect. I want to add some new ones.
* I want to host dinner parties again and not have the dining room overtaking with piles of soap.
* I want to be more dedicated to the blog and hopefully make a few friends in the process.

We'll just have to wait and see.
